In one of my college courses, my classmates and I had to introduce ourselves to the class with an adjective before our names. The catch was that the adjective had to begin with the same first letter as the first letter of our first name. I intruduced myself as Eclectic Erika because that adjective is a great summation of who I am as a person. I was born in Bogota, Colombia, but I am also of Peruvian descent. I was adopted when I was one week old. I was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and my parents and I took annual trips to Miami, Florida to spend time with my dad's side of the family. My dad is a Vietnam Vet, and he taught me how to be a hardworking individual in all areas of my life. My mom taught me what a servant's spirit looks like; in my eyes, I don't think anyone will ever match her selfless service. In addition to my rich ethnic backgound and upbringing, my hobbies include activities associated with nature, music, art, and fitness. Other words that describe me are: tenacious, headstrong, imaginative, spiritual, independent, and sentimental. My must-haves in life include: sunshine, coffee, dogs, music, and Star Trek.
